On April 15, 2012, talented members from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County will dance to Ariana Grande’s debut single, “Put your Hearts Up,” alongside the Monmouth University Dance Team in Pollak Theater on campus, starting at 1 p.m.
The Monmouth University Dance Team reached out to BGCM looking for accompanying dancers, and eight enthusiastic, dedicated kids signed up for the performance. Together, the Monmouth University Dance team and Leah Greene, Asbury Park Unit Child Care Director, coordinated the event, which will give the BGCM dancers a platform to showcase their talents to the community.
For the past several weeks, eight 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students from BGCM have been meeting with the Monmouth University Dance Team on Wednesdays to practice the “Put your Hearts Up” dance routine, which combines ballet and hip hop dance moves.
As the performance quickly approaches, the BGCM dancers are eager to showcase moves they have been busy perfecting for the past two months.
“I am very excited, happy, and proud that I get to be a part of the dance performance,” said Savannah, BGCM dance team member, age 8.
