Our character and leadership programs empower members to positively influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, and develop self-esteem. Members can plan and implement their own activities and community service projects, learn about decision making and democratic processes, and contribute to both their Club and community.
Club members develop healthy habits, positive uses for leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment, and social skills through sports, fitness, and recreation programs. Young people learn teamwork and life skills through organized athletic programs and trips including basketball, golf, swimming, surfing, fishing, baseball, tee-ball, and softball.
We implement the programmatic strategy “Every Member, Every Year” to partner with youth, parents, school, and other community stakeholders to implement at least one of three approaches: academic enrichment and school engagement, targeted dropout prevention, and intensive intervention and case management. Our aim is to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.
These initiatives develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that help them nurture their own well-being, set personal goals, and live successfully as self-sufficient adults. Members in our health and life skills programs learn how to identify healthy meals and routinely exercise, develop self-esteem, build supportive relationships free of violence and abuse, and avoid drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity.
Our advanced arts programs encourage artistic expression among members through dance, photography, drama, and visual art variations including drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, and sculpture.
