Our Club recently hosted a listening session focused on one of the most important issues facing young people today: social media and mental health.
We were honored to welcome New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport, Assemblywoman Luanne Peterpaul, Assemblywoman Margie Donlon, and leaders from Boys & Girls Clubs across New Jersey. This wasn’t a lecture. It was a conversation, and our teens led it.
Hearing directly from teens
Our teens spoke openly about their experiences online, how social media affects their mental health, and what they believe young people need to thrive. They talked about the pressures they feel and the support that makes a difference, both online and off.
Why their voices matter
Teens know better than anyone what it’s like to grow up in a connected world. When we ask for their perspective and actually listen, we get a clearer picture of the challenges they face. That helps all of us, from Club staff to state leaders, find better ways to support their well-being.
We’re proud of our teens for sharing their stories so honestly. We’re also grateful to Attorney General Davenport, Assemblywoman Peterpaul, Assemblywoman Donlon, and our Boys & Girls Clubs partners for making the time to listen.
Stay connected
