A group of local runners used recent shore-area races as fundraisers for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County (BGCM), raising over $33,000.
Team BGCM runners trained and fundraised together for months leading up to April’s Asbury Park Half Marathon and May’s New Jersey Marathon, New Jersey Half Marathon, and Half Marathon Relay. Each team member was asked to raise at least $1,300 to cover the cost of one annual membership for a Boys & Girls Club member.
The team was led by the Club’s Executive Director, Douglas Eagles, and Communications Director, Lisi Klus. Members of this year’s Team BGCM were Ray Cofone of Atlantic Highlands; Craig Kolb of Fair Haven; Harris Davis of Fair Haven; Sharon Falco of Fair Haven; Don Butler of Fair Haven; Jarad Plesser of Fair Haven; Michael D’Angelo of Fair Haven; MaryJane Gallo of Little Silver; Catherine Wimmer of Little Silver; Matt Littlehale of Long Branch; Steven Smith of Matawan; Kathryn Eagles of Middletown; Marion Candrea of Middletown; Suzanne Freeman of Monmouth Beach; Holly McGovern of Ocean Grove; and Heather Schulze of Ocean Grove.
