Let me begin by saying just how thankful I am for the outpouring of support we have received from so many. Our community has demonstrated an inexhaustible supply of generosity and compassion. Thank you.

I am reaching out to you today with a brief update on how the Club has been impacted by COVID-19.

After much deliberation, and in consultation with my board of directors, we made the very difficult decision to close our doors this week in an effort to keep our children, staff, and community members safe. Although our sites are not open at this time, our dedicated team has found other ways to serve our Club kids and their families.

On Tuesday, in partnership with Fulfill and JR’s, we began serving grab-and-go meals to members in Asbury Park and Red Bank. This program will continue into the foreseeable future–we know that food insecurity is a major concern for many of our Club families. We are also exploring virtual programming options so that we can engage our kids remotely, continuing their enrichment programming and offering them the support and guidance that they count on from our caring staff.

During this uncertain time, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to find innovative ways to reach the children in our community. Now more than ever our members need a sense of stability; we will continue to find new ways to provide just that.

Since 1938, the Boys & Girls Club has been helping Monmouth County kids aspire to greatness and find their paths to brighter futures. We wouldn’t be here today without you. Thank you. In the coming days and weeks, please look for more updates from the Club on social media (links below).

Be well,
Doug
