Dear BGCM Parents,

It is with saddened hearts that we share the terrible news that our beloved staff member Simon Press passed away yesterday afternoon. There are no words that can capture the heartbreak and senselessness of Simon’s passing. He was a huge part of our Club family and an absolute rock in the lives of our Club kids. Simon was known throughout Asbury Park and Red Bank for his incredible work and dedication to our children. No matter what, he was always there to support our kids. He literally would do whatever it takes for them.

Our hearts are broken for Simon, for his family, and for our own Club family. And it is also broken for your kids, who loved him so much. Words cannot express the loss and devastation that comes from losing a family member, and for all of us, Simon was family. We ask that you join us in celebrating and remembering the impact Simon had on each of us.

“Simon Press had radiant energy and a great sense of humor. He touched everyone with his infectious smile and caring heart. He made competing fun, whether it was in cooking, sports, dancing, or singing. He may have come around for the first time as a stranger, but you better know he has left us like family.” —Co-worker and family forever, Ms. Ebony

“Simon always made the children and staff smile. He was very silly at times, and working with him was fun especially when he would do his recognition claps and attention-getters. He brought his energy whether he was facilitating a program with our members or was out bowling with staff.” —Mrs. Crystal

“Simon was a SUPERHERO figure to the members of our Clubs, from homework help to fitness and nutrition, Simon would help our members overcome any obstacle. His impact was boundless, and we will honor him forever.” —Mr. Danny

“Simon was truly all for his community and the youth he served. Always willing to learn and take it to the next level. He was a GIFT to us all and will be honored and remembered by us all.” —Mr. Aaron

We ask that if you feel the need to reach out you do so by contacting our directors. We do not have all the answers, but we are willing to be of support the best we know-how.

If you would like to immediately help our efforts to remember the dynamic, vibrant, and always-positive Simon, you can do so in any of the following ways:
