To My BGCM Family,

The Club acknowledges our prominent position in the community and our unique ability to impact and shape young lives, and we do not take that for granted. Our mission is to make sure that every young person who walks through our doors is empowered to become a productive, caring, responsible citizen. We fully recognize that for most of our kids, there are tremendous forces working against them as they seek to achieve a healthy and promising future.

We remain committed to an unequivocal rejection of systemic prejudice, discrimination, and racism. I, along with several of my staff, attended Monday’s Justice for George Floyd protest here in Asbury Park. It was a humbling experience to stand with the families of our Club kids, along with the rest of the community of Asbury Park, to bear witness to the injustices of systemic racism experienced by so many. I was inspired by the rich diversity of the crowd and the peaceful and respectful posture exhibited by both the protesters and the police.

Given the profound nature of our work with young people, it is our responsibility to ensure that we directly communicate with our Club members about their right to safety, health, dignity, and equitable opportunities in life. We are continuing to do whatever it takes to meet their social and emotional needs at this time.

As our nation works to address its problem with race, social justice, and equity, know that our Club is at the forefront, coming alongside our members every day. We are with them, and we are fighting for them.

If you would like information on how you can help us fulfill our mission, please contact us.

Peace,

Douglas Eagles
Executive Director
