Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County (BGCM) is proud to announce it has been recognized as a 2024 Hero for Youth by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s (BGCA) Office of Government Relations. This distinction, awarded through BGCA’s Club Advocacy Recognition Program, honors Clubs that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advocacy efforts on behalf of young people.
BGCM earned the Hero for Youth recognition through proactive efforts including meetings with state, local, and federal elected officials, hosting Club tours for community leaders, and amplifying the voices of the youth we serve.
“Advocating for the needs of young people is a vital part of our mission,” said Douglas Eagles, CEO of BGCM. “When we wrote our 2024-2027 strategic plan, one of the core strategic priorities we identified was to influence public opinion and action to benefit young people. By ensuring that local, state, and national leaders understand the challenges and opportunities facing our youth, we’re helping secure the resources and support needed to create bright futures.”
In 2024, Boys & Girls Clubs across the country collectively secured $387 million in public funding to support youth programs, thanks in large part to the advocacy efforts of local Clubs like BGCM.
BGCM remains committed to championing policies and initiatives that uplift young people in Monmouth County and beyond. Through advocacy, the organization continues to drive positive change, ensuring that every child has access to the opportunities they deserve.
