Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County (BGCM) is proud to announce it has once again been named a Hero for Youth by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Office of Government Relations. The recognition is awarded through BGCA’s Club Advocacy Recognition Program and honors Clubs that demonstrate sustained leadership in advocating for policies and resources that support young people.
BGCM earned the Hero for Youth designation through ongoing engagement with local, state, and federal elected officials, hosting Club tours for community leaders, and elevating the voices and experiences of the young people it serves throughout Monmouth County.
“Advocacy is about making sure decision-makers understand who Club kids are and why their success matters to all of us,” said Douglas Eagles, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County. “When we invest in Club kids, we’re investing in the future workforce, future leaders, and future neighbors America needs.” This year’s recognition underscores the role after-school programs play in helping young people develop the habits, values, and skills communities rely on. Club kids learn to show up for others, contribute to their communities, and prepare for meaningful participation in civic and professional life.
Later this month, BGCM’s leadership team will travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in BGCA’s National Days of Advocacy, joining Club leaders from across the country to meet with policymakers and highlight the importance of sustained public investment in after-school and youth development programs.
BGCM’s continued recognition as a Hero for Youth reflects the organization’s commitment to ensuring young people in Monmouth County have access to safe spaces, life-shaping programs, and meaningful opportunities during the critical after-school hours.
