Project Description

College Bound is our mentor and scholarship program that delivers intensive academic support services to high school students through a unique case-management model program, helping students stay on track to graduate high school with a plan for future education.  The program targets high school students who possess the academic ability to succeed but who face serious risk factors positioning them to fail.  College Bound gives them the guidance and support they need to be accepted into college.  These students, due to environmental circumstances, would most likely not pursue education beyond high school or would enter college without a support system to assist and guide them–facing a lifetime of fewer opportunities.  Discussions, activities, and outings with mentors are structured to reach the goal of successfully obtaining a diploma and preparing for college.  They take tours to local colleges and experience sporting and cultural events.  In addition to individual mentor time, the Club hosts monthly group meetings or workshops with students, mentors, and sometimes families covering topics such as SAT/PSAT prep, writing, financing college, college applications, career exploration/job readiness, internships, and college tours.
