In 2024, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County was proud to be named the lead agency for a five-year Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC) grant. This important funding supports programming at our school-based sites for students in grades 3 through 8, providing academic enrichment, character development, recreation, tutoring, homework help, and family engagement opportunities.

Here are just a few highlights from the program:

Tasty Tuesdays and Master Chef Mondays

Our young chefs are learning their way around the kitchen through our hands-on culinary program. Members learn simple recipes, kitchen safety, and healthy food choices while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Just as important, they are encouraged to try new foods and take pride in what they create.

Brain Gain

Brain Gain helps students stay academically engaged while strengthening key skills in reading, math, and critical thinking. Through project-based learning activities, members explore new ideas, work together, and express their creativity. The program helps reinforce positive learning habits while encouraging curiosity and a love of learning.

STEM Exploration

Our STEM program gives youth the chance to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on projects and experiments. Members build problem-solving skills, spark their curiosity, and begin to see how STEM connects to everyday life and future careers. By introducing these concepts early, the program helps build confidence and expand awareness of the many possibilities that lie ahead.

This project was funded in its entirety under Title IV, Part B, of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant funds through a grant agreement with the New Jersey Department of Education.
