Each day across Monmouth County, our Club doors open to young people bringing with them ambition, obstacles, and untapped potential. For generations the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County has remained focused on helping young people build the skills and confidence they need to move forward.
One of the most meaningful parts of this work is seeing that impact take shape over time.
Kaelah Grant joined the Club when she was seven years old. Over time she became deeply involved in Club life, eventually serving as our Youth of the Year. In her essay for that competition, she wrote about the lessons she learned through the everyday experiences of being a Club kid, learning teamwork through summer camp activities, finding the courage to perform through dance and step programs, and gradually being trusted with leadership roles.
She also wrote about the people who made a lasting difference. “Building relationships with the staff members has been one of the best takeaways from being a Club member,” she shared. “When I need advice, guidance, or just someone to talk to, I know I can confide in someone at the Club. I have never felt out of place being in my Club. My Club is home.”
After graduating high school, Kaelah attended Drexel University and went on to earn a master’s degree in Public Health from Columbia University. This summer, before beginning her next chapter, she will return to the Club to give back to the place that helped shape her. Her story reflects what consistent support, encouragement, and opportunity can make possible.
The young people who walk through our doors today will shape what our communities look like in the years ahead. The habits they form, the values they carry, and the opportunities they are given will influence the character of the world around them.
Every day, our staff are helping Club kids develop judgment, resilience, and a sense of responsibility. They are gaining the tools to lead, to contribute, and to take on whatever comes next.
We are proud to play a role in preparing the next generation and grateful for the community that makes it possible. With your continued support, we will be here for the young people who count on us, today and well into the future.
Thank you for standing with us.
With gratitude,
Doug
