Twelve girls from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County’s (BGCM) Red Bank and Asbury Park Units were surprised by 2012 “Nuestra Belleza Latina” titleholder, Barbara Turbay, with a trip to New York City on Tuesday, April 30th.  “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty) is a beauty pageant competition and reality show produced by Univision, a leading media company serving Hispanic America. Turbay arrived at the Asbury Park location Tuesday afternoon with a limo to escort the girls to their destination in the big city!  The girls are members of BGCM’s SMART Girls, a healthy lifestyle and self-esteem encouragement program,  and many are also members of College Bound, a college preparedness, mentor, and scholarship program.

Upon arrival in New York, the girls met the eight  Nuestra Belleza Latina’s 2013 beauty competition finalists.  They were then treated like royalty!  The girls experienced custom makeovers with Maybelline products and services and participated in a photo and commercial shoot for Maybelline in Times Square!  Throughout the day, the Maybelline artists, Univision staff, and “Nuestra Belleza Latina” finalists provided the girls a chance to discuss self-esteem and inner beauty with positive, strong female role models.

The girls will be featured in the next episode of ” Nuestra Belleza Latina” that will air on Sunday, May 5th at 8 pm on Univision channel 41!

We are thrilled that our girls had the opportunity to experience such a magical and memorable day!    We truly cannot thank them enough enough!  Stay tuned for the girls this week, and see their smiling, beautiful faces!
