ASBURY PARK – Bright-eyed and with a quick-triggered smile, Tylik Pugh does his homework every day after-school at The Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County in Asbury Park.
He’s grateful for the help in subjects such as math and science and also enjoys shooting hoops when he gets done with his homework.
“You can do a lot of stuff here,” Tylik said.
Tylik was very excited on Thursday when the club unveiled its new advanced computer lab, which was donated by the Trenton-based management services firm Northstar New Jersey, a private company that manages the state’s lottery.
The new lab features more than $20,000 worth of equipment, including new laptop computers, a smartboard, a television studio, tablet devices and a 3D printer.
“It’s another tool that we can use to empower the kids that we serve, to give them the skills they’re going to need to thrive in the 21st-century economy,” said Douglas Eagles, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County.
