Christine with husband John and pup Stryker

Christine is about to celebrate her one-year anniversary at the Club, where she serves as our Resource Development Associate. In case you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting her yet, we asked her a few questions to help you get to know her!

What do you like most about your job?

First and foremost, the kids! It is so exciting to be able to witness our members’ enthusiasm at the Club just outside of our administrative office door. It is easy to get inspired when you have the opportunity to talk with the children who benefit from the organization and to hear their stories on a daily basis. I also love the relationships I have had the opportunity to develop and continue to make with members of the community, our many wonderful supporters, and the amazing fellow staff members here at BGCM!

What is your motto or personal mantra?

“Bigger Than You.” Nonprofit work is the most fun, inspiring, and challenging career I’ve experienced in my professional life. When I come to work each morning, I take a moment to pause and tell myself, “This is bigger than you.” This mantra reminds me that the work we do here at BGCM is so much more than the busy schedules or the challenges we may face that day. It shifts my focus to the kids we are serving and what needs to be done to make an impact on each child’s life.

What is on your wish list for your next five years here?

The Club has big plans to provide the opportunity to serve more children and families within the community. As the Development Associate, I want to contribute to the significant growth of the organization through strong fundraising efforts over the next 5 years. I also have a goal to obtain a Certified Fund Raising Executive certification within that time in order to use that professional training to further drive our mission in serving our community’s children.

What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
Each day is different and that is what makes my job so exciting! Whether I am communicating with donors, building community partnerships, planning special events, or playing pool against 5 year olds, my day sends me in all directions. I am currently wrapping up our annual golf outing, which occurred on May 20th and raised about $100,000! I am also planning summer appreciation events, developing strategies to engage new supporters, and creating a robust sustainable giving program to fund future organization ventures. I am so fortunate to work alongside an amazing and supportive team who all share the same vision for BGCM!
