This summer, our campers got a hands-on experience through the Seaside Environmental Academy (SEA) program, seining Sandy Hook Bay and learning about the seashells and marine life they encountered along the way.
Seining is a simple but powerful way to bring science to life: campers help pull a net through the shallows and then get to see, up close, what actually lives in the water around them. For many kids, it’s a first chance to hold a live crab, examine a shell, or ask questions about a fish they’ve never seen before — the kind of curiosity that’s hard to spark from a classroom alone.
Programs like SEA give our campers more than just a fun day at the beach. They build an early appreciation for the ocean and the ecosystems that depend on it, and they show kids that environmental science is something they can touch, explore, and be part of firsthand.
Thank you to Clean Ocean Action for partnering with us and helping our young people explore their environment and learn more about the natural world around them. We’re grateful for the chance to bring experiences like this to our campers.
