Tylik has been a member of our Asbury Park Unit since he was 5 years old. Last year, he enrolled in our teen employment and empowerment program, Project L.E.A.D., and transitioned from Club member to staff member. This spring, he was awarded the title of “Youth of the Year,” the Club’s premier leadership and recognition program for teens. The following is an excerpt from the essay he submitted as part of that competition.

Growing up on the west side of Red Bank as the oldest of three kids dealing with personal struggles at home was hard. Reflecting back, Brenda realizes how the Club recognized and nurtured something in her that she did not see herself: potential.
Hadia is a 6-year-old member who joined the Asbury Park Club last May and has been named "Member of the Week" on multiple occasions! Her mom recently told a staff member, “Hadia does not stop talking about the Club when she comes home!”

Sixth-grader Elizabeth is a new member at our Long Branch site. She loves acting, dancing, and hanging out with her friends.
This is Davi, one of our Asbury Park Club members! He was recently named MVP of the Week, chosen by our staff for his great attendance, positive attitude, and excellent program participation.
alyssa is 7 years old and has been a member for almost 3 years! Her favorite activity at the Club is arts and crafts, and when she grows up she wants to be an artist!
Quashawn is 12 years old and has been a member at the Asbury Park Unit for four years. He is always volunteering to help our staff when they are organizing activities.
Zyair is 12 years old and has been a member at the Red Bank Unit for 7 years. He loves playing outside, especially basketball and football.
