Tylik has been a member of our Asbury Park Unit since he was 5 years old. Last year, he enrolled in our teen employment and empowerment program, Project L.E.A.D., and transitioned from Club member to staff member. This spring, he was awarded the title of “Youth of the Year,” the Club’s premier leadership and recognition program for teens. The following is an excerpt from the essay he submitted as part of that competition.

Growing up on the west side of Red Bank as the oldest of three kids dealing with personal struggles at home was hard. Reflecting back, Brenda realizes how the Club recognized and nurtured something in her that she did not see herself: potential.
Hadia is a 6-year-old member who joined the Asbury Park Club last May and has been named "Member of the Week" on multiple occasions! Her mom recently told a staff member, “Hadia does not stop talking about the Club when she comes home!”
